Abstract
in obstructive jaundice RES functions depresion which trigger the septic process is the most important factor of multiple organ failure, in our experimental study 41 rats were used and randomized to four groups. Group A (n: 13) obstructive jaundice (OJ),Group B (n: 11} obstructive jaundice and GM-CSF was given 1 microgr/kg sc for 5 days. Group C (n:9) OJ and GM-CSF was given in 5µgr/kg sc for 5 days. Group D (n:8) sham group, RES functions were evaluated by Tc99 sulfour kolloid scintigram on postoperative 8 day. in Group A kolloid up take were depressed. The kolloid uptake were significantly different between group A and group D, group B and group D for spleen. There was no different at the kolloid uptake between group C and group D both liver and spleen. We concluded that GM-CSF is an effective factor to stimulate and restorate the RES functions. And GM-CSF can be used in the obstructive jaundice for stimulating the RES functions after clinical studies.
