Abstract

Protective effect of Desferrioxamine, Disulfiram, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Catalase (CAT) on experimental colitis induced by 4% acetic acid has been investigated in this experimental study. 30 Wistar Albino rats have been divided in to 5 groups. No drug was given to the control group. The second group was given Desferrioxamine, third group disulfiram, fourth group SOD, fifth group SOD+CAT.

Analysis of the results revealed significant cytoprotection by desferrioxamine which as a iron chelating agent, anda by Disutfiram, while SOD and Catalase has been found to be ineffective.
