Abstract
During the period of January 1989 and May 1992, we treated 37 cases of inguinal hernia with prolene mash via an extraperitoneal approach.
Among the inguinal hernia cases, 12 were direct, 21 were recurrent, and 4 were indirect. 32 patients were male and 5 were females the age range of whom was between 21 and 78 (average 42).
No recurrences have been observed. In conclusion we believe that this method is an effective mean of treatment and it is non traumatic for the inguinal canal in suitable cases.
