Abstract

It has been postulated that certain drugs have some adverse effects on wound healing. Analgesics are one of the most frequently used drug group in surgical practice. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effects of analgesics on healing process. We used three different analgesic drugs on 48 Wistar Albino rats. A celiotomy was done and the analgesics were administered to the animals intraperitoneally for seven days postoperatively. There was no significant decrease either in the breaking strength (p>0.05) or in the amount of the reparative collagen (p>0.05) of the healing wounds, compared to the control group.
