Abstract

One of the most debated subjects in adrenal surgery is the choice of incision. A comparative presentation of 42 patients is done who had operated adrenalectomies in our clinic between 1990 and 1996. In 7 of the patients transabdominal, in 6 flank, in 20 posterior and in 9 patients retroperitoneal laparoscopic approach was used. Operation time and postoperative complications were found to be less in posterior approach, where as hospitalization time was shortest in laparoscopic approach compared to other groups. Because of the small number of postoperative complications, the shorter operation and hospitalization time and early mobilization.

We concluded that posterior or retroperitoneal laparoscopic approach should be chosen in less than 5 cm, benign, unilateral or bilateral adrenal masses.
