Abstract

Although routine drain application after abdominal surgery remains a subject of debate, this process is still seen as an indispensable part of the surgery by many surgeons. But, it may cause undesirable serious problems that may require surgical intervention. The evisceration of intra-abdominal organs following the removal of the drain is a rare but serious complication which may cause unwanted results for both the patient and the surgeon after an uneventful operation. In our study, we aimed to present three patients in whom intestinal evisceration followed by the removal of drain has developed and to discuss the usage of drains under the review of the literature.
