Abstract

Portal vein thrombosis is the complete or partial obstruction of the infra- and extra-hepatic sections that make up the portal vein by a thrombus. Patients usually have non-specific findings such as abdominal pain. The diagnosis is therefore usually not suspected. If it is not treated in the early stages, mortality may increase to about 50%. Herein we report a 30-year-old female who presented at our outpatients department with abdominal pain following appendectomy and was found to have portal vein thrombosis with abdominal imaging techniques. We have observed a decrease in the complaints of the patients who have received anticoagulant and antibiotic treatments.
