Abstract

We have performed a clinical study to compare the treatment modalities in liver tumors which have poor prognosis and high mortality rates. In the last four years, 49 cases of 30 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 13 hepatic metastases of colorectal cancers and 6 metastases of other primary cancers were evaluated. According to treatment options, we performed regular or irregular hepatic resections for 8 cases, hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) for 15 cases and trans catheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for 26 cases. Survival rates at the end of the 12th and24lh months were 87.5 % and 70.0 % for hepatic resection cases, 64.2 % and 21.3 % for HAIC cases and 71.4 % and52.3 % for TACE cases, respectively. As a result; hepatic resection is the best treatment procedure in primary and metastatic liver tumors. To prolong the survival rates and to Improve the outcomes of patients who are unsuitable for surgical resection, HAIC and TACE procedures are effective and safe treatment options.
