Abstract
Congenital diaphragmatic hernias are rare. The definitive treatment is achieved by surgery. Surgical treatment includes primary repair of the hernia or reinforcing mesh repair whether the sac excised or left in place. Polypropylene, politetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or composite mesh are used for this purpose. Polypropylene meshs are not preferred because the direct contact with the abdominal organs may lead to adhesions. In addition, other mesh products are costly. We aimed to present the clinical course and surgical treatment of a case with bilateral anterior diaphragmatic hernia that was managed by partial excision of the hernial sac, primary repair and preperitoneal polypropylene mesh reinforcement above the peritoneal hernia sac, in order to prevent adhesions.
