Abstract

Gastric necrosis is a rare condition which may be partial or total, and can develop due to numerous causes such as vascular, toxic, mechanical, or infectious. Idiopathic total gastric necrosis is an exceptional condition since only 4 other cases have been published in the literature so far. The authors report a 80 year old female with acute abdominal pain who underwent emergency laparatomy and detected total gastric necrosis. Because of no reason was identified for development of total gastric necrosis, we concluded an idiopathic total gastric necrosis.
