Abstract
In this experimental study, the effect of pretransplant donor-specific blood transfusions on graft survival has been investigated. Wistar albino rats were used as donors and Sprague Dowley rats as recipients. 5 study groups were established in each of which were a total of 12 animals consisting of 6 donors and 6 recipients. Transplantations have been realized by administering pretransplant DST three times to the 1st group, twice to the 2nd group and once to the 3rd group, Cyclosporin A (CyA. 10/mg/Kg/İm) was administered posttransplant to the 4 group in addition to pretransplant DST which was administered once. On the other hand, only transplantation was applied to the control group. Analizing the results; it has been observed that pretransplant DST had a positive influence on the graft survival and this influence was the greatest on the 1 group which was given the transfusion three times (mean graft survival time: 11.83 ( 1.57 days).
