Abstract

There is progressive increase in organ preserving treatments by virtue of radiotherapy and or chemotherapy. These treatment approaches have taken their place as standart treatment for suitable cancer patients (Breast cancer, Head and Neck cancers e.t.c.). Sphincter-sparing surgery after preoperative radio ± chemotherapy is another treatment modality that takes its place as organ preserving approach for suitable rectal cancer patients.
