Abstract

In this experimental study, effectiveness of the fibrin tissue glue introduced either intraparenchimally or superficially, was investigated in experimental hepatic laserations in rabbits. Third grade hepatic laserations were made experimentally in three groups of rabbits each consisting of 10 rabbits. The first group of rabbits was treated with fibrin tissue glue (TISSEL KIT) and second group with suture material. The third group of rabbits was chosen as control group and no treatment was applied. In the first and second groups liver biopsies were performed on postoperative third, seventh and fifteenth days and also histopathological evaluations were carried out. Third group of rabbits were relaparotomized on postoperative 15 th day and only macroscopic evaluations were done. In the first group in which fibrin tissue glue was used, the liver tissue healing was completed on 15th day histopathologically. No complication developed in this period. In the sutured group, at the end of the healing process the development of fibrous tissue was detected on histopathological examination. The three groups were compared with each other according to the appearance of complications on macroscopic examinations and the healing of the liver tissue on microscopic examinations. As a result, in this experimental study, we found that the use of fibrin tissue glue gives better results than the use of suture materials in the treatment of liver traumas.
