Abstract

This study was planned to determine the value of herniography for unexplained groin pain and occult hernia. Between July 1996 and August 1997, herniography was performed on 46 patients with unexplained groin pain or clinically suspicious hernias. Herniographic examination showed groin hernia in 12 cases. No false positive herniograms were discovered in 10 cases where operation for groin hernia was performed previously. No complications were observed.

Herniography is a simple, valuable and more sensitive diagnostic study in patients with unexplained groin pain and occult hernia.
