Abstract

Multifactorial systems are used to determine the severity and prognosis in patients with acute pancreatitis. The value of systems of Ranson, Osborne, Blamey and Dammann are evaluated in 27 acute pancreatitis patients. In this study, the ratio of mild and severe cases are as %78 and %22 in Ranson's and in Osborne's; %93 and %7 in Blamey's and %85 and %15 in Dammann's respectively. The results suggest that no superiority exists between these systems in the prediction of severity and prognosis of acute pancreatitis.
