Abstract

We performed Nylon darn repair (Moloney technique) in 336 inguinal hernies on 308 patients who had inguinal hernies, during the 25 months period between April 1992-May 1994. In this prospective clinical study 77% of the cases were performed primer repair and 23% of them were seconder repair. 301 repairs of 277 patients were followed up 18.1 (1-25) months. In early postoperative period, 13 patients (3.9%) had superficial wound infection, 2 patients (0.6) had hematoma and echimosis was seen in 8 patients (1.8%), in 4 patients (0.9%) early postoperative pain were severe and used high dose analgesia. All patients were mobilized at early period (in first 8 h.). We found mean hospital stays as 2.7 day (1-8). There were only one reccurence in 301 cases who were followed up. We decided that this technique was a preferable one among the other techniques used in the repairment of inguinal hernies.
